I'll be honest with you. The real estate industry has a backwards problem.

After over a decade in this business, working solo, joining teams, switching brokerages, I kept seeing the same thing everywhere: agents being treated like numbers in a corporate machine. Brokerages that cared more about their brand recognition than the people actually doing the work. Signs with the company logo in massive letters and the agent's name in fine print at the bottom.

And I kept thinking: this doesn't make sense.

The Problem Nobody Talks About

Here's what actually happens in real estate: clients don't hire RE/MAX or Keller Williams or any other corporate brand. They hire Sarah. They hire Michael. They hire YOU.

Your expertise. Your service. Your reputation in the community.

The brokerage? That's just infrastructure. Support. A vehicle to help you serve your clients better. But somewhere along the way, the industry flipped the script. Agents became the vehicle to build brokerage brands instead of the other way around.

Most brokerages want their logo in lights and your name in fine print. We think that's backwards.

Why I Started Associates

I got tired of seeing good agents treated like replaceable cogs in a machine. Overshadowed by a brand. Burdened with fees. Undervalued in the work they actually do.

I saw talented agents burning out. Not because they couldn't handle the work, but because the system was designed wrong. They were building someone else's empire while their own families paid the price. Missing soccer games. Missing dinners. Missing the moments that actually matter.

I watched agents doing 15 or 20 transactions a year, working incredibly hard, and barely keeping half their commission after splits, fees, desk costs, franchise fees, and a dozen other charges that mysteriously appear on statements.

I heard agents say things like "my broker is never available" or "I had to figure it out myself" or "they only care about their top producers."

Associates was built to change that. We didn't need another brokerage. We needed a better one.

That's our philosophy. The way it should be.

Most brokerages have it backwards. They put their brand first, their bottom line second, and agents somewhere down the list as a means to an end.

We flipped it. You and your clients are the mission. Everything else exists to support that.
